How it works

How it works, from first question to funding

Six steps, one specialist, and no credit check until you decide to go ahead.

See if you qualify →No credit check to enquire

Unsecured finance is assessed on how your business trades rather than on property, so the process is built around understanding your turnover properly the first time. Here's what happens after you enquire.

  1. 1

    1. Tell us the basics (about 60 seconds)

What the funding is for, roughly how much, your average monthly turnover, time trading and whether you own property. No credit check at this stage.

  2. 2

    2. A specialist reads it

One real person reviews your enquiry. It isn't auctioned or forwarded to a list of lenders.

  3. 3

    3. A call to understand the detail

We talk through how the business trades, any seasonality, existing facilities and ATO position, so nothing surprises anyone later.

  4. 4

    4. Honest options, limits included

What your turnover supports, which structure fits the need (loan, line of credit, invoice, merchant or equipment finance) and what each asks of you, including guarantees.

  5. 5

    5. Documents, only if you proceed

Usually business bank statements (often shared digitally), ID, ABN or company details, and quotes or invoices for what you're funding. A credit check happens here, once.

  6. 6

    6. Approval and funding

Once approved and signed, funds are paid to your account or directly to the supplier. Same-day funding is possible for smaller unsecured amounts.

Why we don't spray your enquiry around

Some sites pass every enquiry to a panel of lenders and let them compete. That can mean a string of calls and, worse, several credit enquiries on your file. The OAIC notes that credit enquiries stay on a credit report for five years. We'd rather match you once, to the option most likely to fit, and apply once, properly.

Why accuracy on the form matters

The figures you give (turnover, time trading, existing repayments, ATO position) decide which option we suggest. Optimistic numbers lead to the wrong recommendation and a slower answer. Accurate ones get you matched properly on the first call. If you're not sure of a figure, give your best honest estimate and tell us it's an estimate.

Common questions

Does enquiring affect my credit score?

No. There's no credit check when you first enquire. A credit check only happens if you decide to proceed with a specific application.

Will my details be sent to lots of lenders?

No. A real person reads your enquiry and matches it to the option most likely to fit. We don't spray enquiries across the market.

What should I have ready before the call?

Your average monthly deposits, how long you've traded, a list of existing loans or advances, your BAS status and a rough idea of the amount and purpose. Quotes help too.

How long does the whole process take?

It depends on the amount and how straightforward the file is. Same-day funding is possible for smaller unsecured amounts; larger or more complex requests take longer.

What if unsecured isn't the right fit?

We'll say so. Sometimes equipment finance, invoice finance or waiting a few months is the better move. If you own property and choose to use it, secured options from $20,000 to $5,000,000 exist too.

No property? Let's see what your turnover supports.
